As the School Librarian it is my pleasure to welcome you to the School Library. My role involves supporting the learning of pupils from across the School. The Library is a vibrant, friendly, purpose-built space.   Pupils in S1 and S2 visit the library on a weekly basis and have the opportunity to borrow items from our collection of quality fiction and non-fiction titles. The Library currently stocks over 10,000 resources.

There are lots of activities on offer in the Library including regular competitions and events.  To keep up to date with future events please visit the library’s twitter page - @Dalkeithcampuslib.

There is also the Anime book group that runs on a Tuesday lunchtime,  a S3/S4 book group the Bookies who meet every Wednesday lunchtime and the S1/S2 book group – on  a Thursday lunchtime.  We also have a senior book group which meets once a month on Monday lunchtime.

The Library and Learning Support Department also jointly run a successful paired reading programme with the S6 mentoring S1/S2 pupils.

The library contributes in many ways to support our young people to ASPIRE at St David's.

Borrowing books

All books and resources borrowed from the library must be properly issued on the library issue system.  All pupils may borrow up to 2 books at a time and may renew them if they are not required by another borrower. Students are responsible for returning or renewing their books by the return date.   The library stock is constantly being added to and the librarian is always pleased to consider requests for books that the library does not have.

The Library has 19 computers, with Internet access. Priority is given to those using them for school work.   All pupils must follow the school Code of Conduct for using computers.

Senior School pupils enjoy their study periods using library resources which support their learning as part of the curriculum.

Come and join us if you are passionate about learning and or just love of reading!
